The European Institute of Oncology was established to implement an innovative model of health and international advanced research in the field of oncology. Inside the Directors of Division and Unity come from eight European countries.
brainchild of Umberto Veronesi and opened in May 1994, the Institute became an Institute of Scientific Hospital Care (IRCCS) by ministerial decree of January 1996, is an independent private non-profit which provides services through agreements with the National Health Service.
In line with the standard the most advanced international cancer centers, the Institute has developed inside the full integration of the various activities in the fight against cancer: prevention, diagnosis, health education and training, research and treatment.
addition to its headquarters in Via Ripamonti, where all activities are carried out clinical, research and training in 2002 was inaugurated IEO CENTER, the first integrated oncology diagnostic center for women, located in Via San Luca 8. Divisions and Units
